Employment Cell initiative, funded by Lifeforce International.
Target group is unemployed youths who are easy prey to blandishments of poachers and logging contractors.
Focus is to provide village youths with alternative livelihood options to reduce their dependence on forests.
Project seeks to provide direct employment as well as enhance skills of candidates to enable them to go in for self-employment.
Between June 2007 and October 2007, jobs provided to 32 youths from Pench cluster.
Workshops on alternative livelihood for 58 youths since June.
Schedule of skill-enhancement workshops in place for coming months.
Candidates will be provided with training in areas like making food products, running eco-tourism units, making soap, incense sticks, candles, clothes.
Employment Cell currently focusing on Pench Cluster and will expand activities to other Tiger Reserves in coming months.
Conducted surveys in all villages on level of unemployment, livelihood issues and opportunities for self-employment within our area of operations.
Since 2008, the Foundation has held placement workshops/ programmes through which 600 unemployed youths have obtained jobs with local hotels/resorts, at nearby urban centres and at Nagpur.
Since 2008, we have organised 65 training programmes or capacity-building workshops to help village youths find alternative livelihood.

Lantana product sales have generated over 15000 rupees.
Villagers, whom we encouraged to take up vegetable farming, are earning 500-1200 rupees a week in additional income.
Village boy progresses from helper to receptionist - Anirudh Shrivas of Pathari (Pench M.P.) started as a helper at Mrignainee Resort at a monthly salary of 1500 rupees. He is now a receptionist at the same resort and earns 7000 rupees a month.
From helper to storekeeper - Deepak Mularwar of Ghatpendari started as a helper with Tuli Tiger Corridor at a monthly salary of 1200 rupees. He is now a storekeeper at the same resort and earns 5000 a month.
Ramsa Uikey of Ghatpendri trained as four-wheeler driver through our programme has bought a second hand jeep to ferry villagers.
Hemant Thakre of Pipariya trained by us as four wheeler driver has got job at MTDC, Sillari as a driver.
Village boy is now assistant chef at star hotel - Sevakram Verma of Pathari (Pench M.P.) started as a helper at Tuli Tiger Corridor Resort, Turia at a monthly salary of 1200 rupees. He is now assistant chef at Hotel Tuli International, Nagpur and earns 7000 rupees a month.

The donations less than 10,000 from a donor would go to the Administration Expenses pool spent on Administrative expenses of
the SF.
